Series Info
Mission Statement:
To promote a cost effective form of open wheel racing.
General Information The Wolverine Outlaw Midget Series (WOMS) is
designed to be a family oriented, fun competitive midget series. AS open
wheel champions such as Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman have
moved up to the Nascar Nextel Cup ranks, individuals who are able have
been more willing than ever to spend exorbitant amounts of money to
compete in "traditional" midget racing. Many talented competitors have
been forced to make difficult yet responsible financial decisions,
resulting in a loss of entries and hurting car counts overall throughout
the Midwest. The primary focus of WOMS is a set specific
rules so that economics have much less impact on results. Tire rules
were developed to maintain reasonable operating expenses. In
addition to addressing concerns of those competitors who have been
racing midgets over the years and have observed the steady increase in
costs associated with the sport, WOMS is providing the opportunity for
younger drivers to move up from quarter midgets and Go-Karts to
compete. WOMS competes on 1/4 to 1/2 mile tracks in
Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois. |
